Point-In-Time Homeless Count

Where: Passaic County
Summary: Address Homelessness: Be a Point-In-Time Volunteer!

Address the issue of homelessness in Passaic County head-on by becoming a Point-in-Time Volunteer.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., volunteers recruited by St. Paul's Community Development Corporation, New Jersey Community Development Corporation, and other civic and community based organizations, will take to the streets of Paterson, Passaic, and all points Passaic County to count and survey the homeless. Those surveyed will be referred to charitable organizations like Eva's Village and SPCDC where they will be provided shelter and access to necessary social services.

Participants can volunteer on teams of 4 in 4 hour shifts beginning at midnight.

Volunteers will be required to attend a mandatory training session prior to the Point-In-Time event.

-> Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 1pm-3pm
-> Thursday, January 24, 2013, 10am (401 Grand Street, Paterson)
-> Friday, January 25, 2013, 6pm-8pm

Hammering 4 Habitat: A Wall Raising Event
When: - 9am-12pm
Where: 415 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne (ReStore)
Summary: A morning of building walls and friendships. The walls constructed during the event will be used for the new homes built in 2013. The donations collected are used to help build these new homes.

In recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, and in support of our community partner, Paterson Habitat for Humanity, St. Paul's Community Development Corporation (SPCDC) and its AmeriCorps program will help "raise walls" in support of future Habitat projects in the City of Paterson.

Adopt-A-Family 2012
When: - 10AM-6PM
Where: St. Paul's CDC, 456 Van Houten Street, Paterson
Summary: Gracious donors will be adopting SPCDC client families this holiday season. Donors are still needed!

SPCDC will be holding its annual holiday toy and gift distribution complete with a special visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Agency families will be adopted through the Adopt-A-Family Program run by the Volunteer Center of Bergen County, as well as local religious groups, community and civic organizations.

The distribution of gifts will take place on Monday, December 17th from 10AM to 6PM.

We encourage toy donations, as well as additional family donors to help ensure that all clients have a happy and festive holiday season.
